Today Ria wrote in, she wants to help her grandmother.
Here is Ria’s letter:
Good Day! My grandmother has dual citizenship ( US & Filipino)she has been here in the Phils. for more than 4 years. Now, she wants to go back to the US because of her health condition. I just want to ask upon leaving Manila, Philippines – does she need to present her Philippine Passport or just her US Passport? though i am not sure if her US passport is still valid or not. Kindly advise since my grandma needs to have her health issues checked in the US since her doctor is from there. Thank you!
Hello Ria,
If your grandmother intends to travel to the USA using her Philippine Passport, she will have to get a Visa to go to the USA, since she will be coming as a Philippine Citizen. Really, to avoid hassles, she should use her US passport at all times during the trip. If her passport is expired, she should contact the US Embassy in Manila in order to renew it. This will all be hassle free since she is a US citizen, and she can come and go from the USA at will if she is using her US passport. Using a Philippine passport for this trip is not advisable.
Take care.
