Kelvin wrote in today with a question about citizenship and school in the Philippines.
Here is Kelvin’s question:
hi bob,
i was born at saipan(a US TERRITORY).therefore,i am a US CITIZEN by the jus soli method. Both of my parents are Filipino citizens. We moved here in the phils since 2000. Am i qualified to apply for dual citizenship??I am now experiencing problems in school because im a foreign student because of my US citizenship and i was thinking if i apply for dual citizenship will help solve this problem. Thanks in advance.
And, here is Bob’s answer for Kelvin:
Hi Kelvin – since your parents are Filipino, I believe that you can indeed be a Philippine Citizen if you apply.
Good luck with your education, Kelvin, and your citizenship too!
