We got an inquiry today from David McCray, he was trying to help a friend.

Here is what David had to say:

I have a friend; (mother Filipino citizen, father american ). He is US citizen. He wants to travel with me to Philippines to live there and open a busness. What can you advise for him to do. Can he go to Chicago (nearest Phil. Embassy) to file for dual citizenship? Once he has done that, what can you advice him in terms of what business he can open in his case as Dual Citizen. He is a lawyer in Ohio but too busy to research so am doing this for him without his knowledge.

And, here is Bob’s reply for David and his friend:

Hi David.  Yes, your friend can apply for Dual Citizenship, provided his mother was a Filipino Citizen at the time of his birth, and he can prove that.  He should have no problem.  Doing the process in Chicago is the best, since that is the nearest Philippine Consulate (the only US Philippine Embassy is in Washington DC, all other Philippine outposts are Consulates).

As far as what business he should go into, that is up to him to decide.  Since I don’t know him, I don’t know his interests or skills.  I have two suggestions, though.  First, he can check out my book, 49 Ways to make a living in the Philippines.  The book has 49 different recommendations on businesses that will work here.  Secondly, he might like to read my site about making money online, Virtual Earner.

Thank you David for visiting my site, and good luck to you and your friend, I hope your dreams of a life in the Philippines work out well.
