Mirador recently contacted me with a number of questions.
Here is Mirador’s e-mail:
My wife and myself had long been naturalized US citizens. We’re coming to a decision to semi retire in the Philippines very shortly; keeping our options to shuttle from these 2 countries at our whims. Questions:
1. How long would we be able to stay in PI if we have dual citizenship?
2. Are we able to own properties there with the dual citizenship?
3. Where can I apply from Northern California?
4. What are the fees?
5. Can I apply online?
Hello Mirador,
Thank you for writing. Below are my answers to each of your questions:
1. If you are a citizen, you can stay in the country as long or as short as you want. You can stay the rest of your life if you wish.
2. Yes, you can legally own property in the Philippines if you are a dual citizen.
3. You can apply at the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco.
4. For information on the fees for Philippine Dual Citizen law, I recommend that you check our book on Philippine Dual Citizenship. It is only $9.99 and has all of the information on the fees and process.
5. No, you cannot apply online.
Take care, and good luck.
