When you are retired and a foreigner living in a Philippine province (like me), you have plenty of time to reflect on the future, and silly ideas. Sometimes you consider a philosophical question and sometimes it’s a basic math question. Anyway, below are some of my internal questions and my very brief conclusions.
1) Does might make right with regard to disputed territories?
Yes.
2) Will the influence of the Catholic Church in the Philippines increase or decrease in future years?
Decrease.
3) If I met the other writers on this website, would we like each other and become friends?
I’m pretty sure I would like them… not so sure they would like me.
4) Is life tougher for teens in the Philippines or in my home country?
Not sure.
5) If the Philippines suddenly disappeared, how would it impact the rest of the world?
Very Little.
6) If the United States suddenly disappeared, how would it impact the rest of the world?
Very Much.
7) If the world leaders all sat down together and played poker, would Presidents Duterte and Trump do well?
Yes.
8) Why does it seem like an unusually high percentage of Filipino men would prefer to be women?
No idea.
9) If the U.S. Economy continues to grow at 3% (like it is now), and the Philippine economy continues to grow at close to 7% (like it is now), how many years will it take for the Philippine economy to be bigger than the U.S. Economy?
My guess, 75 years.
10) Are the differences between everyday life in my home country and the Philippines increasing or decreasing?
Decreasing.
11) How much profit does the average Jollibee make in a day?
My guess… 10,000 pesos.
12) How long should my wife and I live in the Philippines?
Just take it a day at a time.
